Education Director
Position Summary
The Education Director shall work to ensure that The Pines Preservation Guild meets its core mission objective of offering Education Programs to the citizens of Moore County, NC. The Education Director will have the duty of creating an exciting and engaging course schedule of preservation-related classes, offered both in person and digitally.
Key Responsibilities
Develop new educational curricula for community members to attend.
Create an educational event schedule
Network and building relationships with members of the historic preservation, building trades, and professional community in and around Moore County, NC.
Closely work with the Fundraising and Outreach Director to coordinate a class schedule.
Coordinate on a monthly basis with the Marketing Director to create a marketing plan for each course being offered to the public.
Monitoring the progress of new and existing course offerings.
Closely evaluating results at the end of each quarter and writing up progress reports.
Seek out and create relationships with owners of prospective venues to host in-person educational events.
Identifying areas for improvement and scheduling workshops for new and existing staff.
Board Member Responsibilities
Provide inspired leadership for The Pines Preservation Guild.
Represent The Pines Preservation Guild with the highest standard of integrity and transparency

Model commitment to our mission, vision, and core values to those within and without our organization.
Maintain confidentiality to include, but not limited to, The Pines Preservation Guild’s board meetings, Standards of Operation, policies, and financial records to persons inside and outside of the organization unless deemed appropriate by the executive team to release information.
Promote a spirit of teamwork through modeling the way of accountability, effective communication, integrity and creative problem solving.
Participate in philanthropic networks. Stay abreast and monitor trends in the nonprofit and foundation world. Identify and undertake professional development and training.
Must participate in The Pines Preservation Guild’s “Intro to Historic Preservation” training class prior to start of term of service.
Identify and recruit individuals, businesses, and community based organizations that may sponsor or donate funds for the benefit of The Pines Preservation Guild, in line with strategic priorities and funding plan.
Follow the bylaws, conflict of interest, and any other policies or publications founded by The Pines Preservation Guild, and take seriously the legal, fiscal, and ethical responsibilities the Board carries
Prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in board meetings and events.
Sign official documents of the organization, as required.
Submit monthly report of committee activities, and annual committee AAR, budget and strategic plan that are in line with The Pines Preservation Guild’s overall strategic plan and program initiatives.
Keep a digital notebook which contains, at minimum, copies of committee monthly reports, and After Action Reports (AARs) for the designated position duties or programs.
Maintain and update position description and submit annually to the President for review.
Participate in recruiting of staff/volunteer/board members, specifically taking the lead on planning for their own succession and offering up recommendations to the board. Orients new Educational Director.
Time Required
20 hours per month on average, more time may be required for budget preparation and year end | Term of Service: 2 years
Qualifications & Special Skills
Transparent and high integrity leadership.
Strong personal interest in historic preservation, architecture, and/or urban planning.
Committed to accuracy, transparency and timeliness.
The ability and patience to draft several documents and policies.
The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
First-class organizational skills.
The ability to use tact and diplomacy in interactions with all relevant parties.
A strong ethical code.
Maintain a positive attitude and be open to feedback.
High attention to detail
Experience with clear and accurate recordkeeping
Willingness to ask questions
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, iWorks, Asana.
Experience working with remote teams
