Mayberry Modernism Lecture

US Modernist founder George Smart brings decades of experience documenting and promoting Modernist architecture.

Friday May 29

6:30 pm

West Southern Pines Center

1250 W. New York Avenue
Southern Pines NC, 28387

Midcentury structures are quickly passing the 50-year historic mark but policymakers and individuals still struggle to consider Modernist houses to be historic. US Modernist founder George Smart shares the story of how his team of volunteers documents thousands of Modernist houses across North Carolina. He outlines the impact of Modernist architecture on Moore County’s built environment and describes the influential architects of the period who called Moore County home.
